Love, probably the most talked-about, experienced and the most glamourized feeling in the world that everyone craves for and need in their life. It is sometimes the centre of a story in lots of movies like Love Aaj Kal(Which I covered in the last blog check it down below this blog #shamelessplug), Harry Potter series, etc and TV shows like This is us. Yet many people these days cannot seem to understand what true love is and end up dissatisfied with their current relationship because they feel like they are not loved. So in this blog, I am going to answer the question of what is love? and slove some misconceptions about love.
Part 1:- What is Love?
now, the way I interpret love is that at its core love is help because everyone in life is having a hard time. So, love is devotion to their struggle. It’s when you’re committed to helping somebody with their life, helping them to suffer less. It is a deep desire for the growth and success of our loved ones. It demands a deep understanding of their dreams, fears, needs and trauma. Now that doesn't mean that you will go out there and solve all the problem in their life but instead, you will become the power that they need to face the challenges that life throws at them. In the end, you both lift each other up and make each other a better person.
Part 2:- Some misconceptions about love
With all of that said I think there are some things that people tend to get wrong about the mighty old love and because of that they have such expectations from their partners which oftentimes cannot be met and that makes them sad and unsatisfied from their current relationship. This is mostly because of the standards set by the Bollywood and social media about love that are outright unrealistic and the world in which we have a way too many for pretty much anything many couples always wonder whether they are the right person or not. So here are 2 major misconceptions about love:-
1) Love will somehow make you happy in life no matter what:- This one such a big myth because here is a thing if someone loves you it is totally and utterly out of their control whether or not you feel happiness from the inside. Yes, they can make you smile or feel better and yes it's nice to be loved by someone in general but true happiness is something that comes from the inside and nobody but you can control it. I can see where this myth comes from at the end we humans are inherently broken and for most of our lives, we feel that there is this some kind of void inside us that we try to fill with different things and love is one of them and with all the happy endings that we have seen in movies we convince ourselves that if we find that one special someone our life will good and sorted but that is impossible. That void of sadness that keeps us from being happy cannot be filled by external means it has to come from within us and that can only be done by self-care, doing what we love and achieving the goals that we have for our life.
2) Relationship = love:- oh boy where do I even begin. Love and relationship are two separate things. You can be in a committed relationship for years but you both might not even love each and you are in that relationship just because you don't want to be alone or feel lonely. If you are in a relationship where there is no love left that is the definition of a toxic relationship and a recipe for depression and disappointment. You can fall in love with anyone but every good thing takes time and love is no exception. It is like a long and worthwhile journey which is an essential part of life. So if you think that you might love someone tell them. Let them know that you care about them because if you like it or out life is unpredictable and our time on this earth is limited so you can never be sure that if that person is going to stay in your life for forever or not.
